What is your excuse?

I wouldn't have even thought twice about this post until I went "public" but, though I do love most of you, I just have to keep it real.

I have heard every excuse in the dang books from too many people about why they can't exercise. About why it is easier for me, than it is for them. Now hold on to your "I'm offended face." I don't get to be offended when everyone is preaching to me about why I can do it and they can't... of a few of my personal you did not just say that, did you? favorites.

  • You don't have kids.
  • I can't run.
  • You have the lap-band.
  • I don't have money for the gym.
  • I have too many other commitments.
  • I have a life.
  • I just don't have the time.
  • I work.
  • I just don't like it.
  • I have bad knees, ankles, butt... i've heard it all.
  • I'll start tomorrow, Monday... February.
  • (Insert your own excuse here.)
My heck, the list of BS goes on and on. The truth is exercise is not a priority for you, end of story. If you want the truth, I'll give you a alternative to each of your lame ass excuses "reasons." (Now please, no one send me an email about their legit medical issues that keep you from exercising, the purpose of this post is for EACH AND EVERY ONE of us to evaluate the TRUTH about why we aren't moving more, why we aren't doing what we can.)

Now I'm not perfect, and there are some most days that I don't want to exercise, or eat right. I would rather come home from school and just hang-out! "Be still like vegetables... lay like broccoli." ~Pretty woman.
I have my own list of excuses, ready?

  • My muscles are sore.
  • I can lose weight without it (though slowly, or maybe not at this point in my journey.)
  • It is too cold.
  • It is too hot.
  • I have dogs that need attention.
  • I want to spend time with my family.
  • I want to go ...
  • I just DO NOT WANNA!
It isn't easy for anyone. Not even the mega fit people (at least I don't think.)
So what I'm requesting is just identify your excuses reasons for what they really are.

  1. So agree! Heck, I'm still over 300lbs and I DO have bad knees but my drs. won't do anything with my knees until I lose weight, so to speed the process up ALONG with my band, I got my butt to the gym. I had all those excuses too. I have 3 kids under 6. It IS cold here in South Dakota! I live out in the country on gravel roads. But I put those aside and make it a priority, no excuses!

  3. It's SOOOO true. I tell myself every day that I really should get off my butt... but I don't wanna! Yes, I'm busy, yes I have kids at home, yes I'm tired... but the bottom line is, if I WANTED to make it a priority, I would. I am the only one I blame :) One of these days, I will do it! ;) Love you, gorgeous lady!
