Clap for me, I went to the gym.

There was a post on Facebook a couple of days ago... and it has bothered me ever since I read it. It is this silly picture a few people have decided to share:

Wanna know why it bothers me? Because I don't CARE where you get your motivation, or WHO helps to reinforce the behavior of working out. I just care that it happens. And it ticks me off that people decide to post things like this. I don't always post about if I did or didn't go to the gym, or go running, or whatever! I do know that sometimes I need my friends to help motivate me.
I know that all people do things that are reinforcing, and lets face it, the gym (or exercise in and of itself) isn't always a ball of STINKING joy. If you need or want someone to say "good work" or something equal, then who cares if you post it on Facebook?
Seriously, there are WAY more obnoxious things that happen. Like the girl who posts things like this picture, but then turns around and blabs about what a loser her husband is, or that picture of her cleavage and duck face pose while she is trying to keep her arm out of the picture she is taking of herself.

OK... I am done.
Seriously though, where do you find your motivation to do a 'structured workout routine?'

  1. I look for my motivation here and from my family. I don't post anything at all on facebook about my weight loss...and I am guilty of taking pictures of myself on fb. I think I may even have a "duckface" picture on there...but I was totally making fun of other people who have the duckface :)

    1. I appreciate the duckface mocking! Very funny! Just my example of how there are sillier things on Facebook. I respect anyone who chooses to keep their weight loss journey private! To each his own.... Or hers:)

  2. I thought the cartoon was funny.....but now that you mention it...going to the gym isn't fun. We should get a little props when we do it!

Just a side note: My husband always says "have fun" when I walk out the door for the gym. WTF? Clearly he doesn't workout b/c it's not actually fun.

    1. It isn't that I can't see the humor in it, it is funny. I just don't want someone to lose their motivation because they find their support on Facebook, then someone made fun if them for it. It is so easy to lose the courage! which I think we all know:)

  3. I get my motivation from the high I know I'll feel at the end of the work out and from that "flat belly ohmygod are those my hipbones" feeling! Also from being out doing what I love and having fun with it...as soon as it becomes a chore - not gonna do it!

    1. I know exactly what you mean! That's why, for now, no half marathon. I love the feeling of running.as soon as I made it about something else I didn't want to duo it anymore.
