What I would weigh

When I was 16 I weighed 190.

I had Lap Band surgery at the age of 24.

I weighed 277.

So if I take an average I gained 10.87 pounds a year from 16 to 24.

Approaching my 2 year bandiversary and my 26th birthday I realize that without the Lap Band and shit load of hard work I would

298.74 pounds.

Ugh.

The thought make me feel terrible.

That puts into persepective my weight that is in the 170's .

It is never easy, but I have never regretted it.

I am fighting for my life. My future. My health.

  3. That is a great analysis. It isn't just losing, its what we didn't gain....yikes....I would be pushing 260 and I'm just 6 months out.
    Good Post!

  4. You are doing great! It's great to put this into perspective to see how far you have come and where you could have been if not for lap band!!

  5. I didn't realize you were that young. 170lbs is great! You weigh less than when you were a teenager! That's amazing.

  7. Wow, that is a great numerical reminder! I did mine, but I had been obese for a good 20 years when I had my sleeve. So the averages were much smaller. I graduated HS at age 18 weighing 175. I've only been sleeved 2.5 years so when I did the math mine came out to be slightly over 300lbs. I was less than that when I was sleeved but not by a whole lot.

  8. Why is it when you gain 10 pounds in a year it is totally effortless, but losing that 10 pounds is hard work??? So not fair. Oh, and 24??? I probably have shoes older than you :) I do, for real, have a child older than you. Great...now I feel old :)
