Workout Wednesday

First adventure into my gyms weight room. Ummmmmmm.... Intimidating? Yepper. Don't worry I took my brother Squishy. He is hilarious and a man-ly man. So it was only because of him that I went in to that packed room of crazy 'buffness.' Ill be going again. Then an hour of Zumaba! Ill post a picture of Squishy sometime.

My friend Kandice was a total Dragon Warrior tonight. She wasn't feeling too hot and still did 45 minutes of Zumba. She said she was more like a 'baby lizard' then a 'dragon warrior' but I beg to differ!

Whatever you do, just get out of your comfort zone.

It is a Miracle ...

No Joke!
Weekly weigh time and the results are:

Last week: 178.9
This week: 178.9

Wanna see what kinda woman I am?

Yep... I'm shooting some clay pigeons. To quote one of my favorite bloggers Vanessa
"I'm just doin' me."

Don't you love the saggy baggy pants and my "weekend" shirt? Gotta love it!

I thought she was dead....

This person has been visiting my house.... Take a close look, you know her. I know her very well. I thought she was dead, or at least in a coma.

Fat Lorie... food obsessed Lorie... sit on the couch Lorie... she has been in residence for 3 DAYS! 72 hours. The saddest part is, I've welcomed her, asked her to stay, even thought about letting her stay permanently.  I haven't been in a spot like this since August. Read HERE if you are interested in the black hole I visit every once in a while.

I guess the truth is, I kinda got cocky. Thought I had this in the bag, but the really dark place that kicked me in the face when I had 99 pounds left to lose, is still there with only 35 ish pounds left, welcoming me back into a life of lazy living and over eating. I AM NOT GOING TO SET UP RESIDENCE (I thought about it) but man is it screaming at me tonight and for the last three days. . Sometimes the hardest part of this journey is that it is up to me... ME!

Alright, no time like now! I'm back on the wagon!

What do you ladies do when you fall of the wagon? How do you silence your inner fat self? (I know I'm not PC, but it is me, i'm going to roll with it).

10 things Thursday

1. I've been pretty focused on the "-100" number... I just can't seem to get there.

2. I'm jealous of Ronnie and Vanessa for their "maintence" journey! Congrats Honey Badger.

3. I'm 'teacher of the year' for my school. I'm pretty excited about it.

4. Got a fill on Monday. Feeling good:)

5. I'm not doing as well on my food/water journaling. Just slowed down? I'm still losing, but I want to still keep track of everything.

6. I've almost completely cut out snacks. I really think this has helped with the last 10 pounds
7. I'm "OFFICIALLY" signed up for the Bryce Canyon 1/2 marathon... gotta get my run on.

8. Pinterest.... I'm new, but I love it.

9. I want to know how to better fuel mmy body for workouts, but still lose weight.

10. I need more strength training in my routine.

Single and banded vs SO and banded...

Now, I can't list the pro's and con's of each of these, so I'm going to do the single portion. I would like it if all you banded ladies out there single and with a SO would also do a post, this is something that really intrigues me.

Pro's to being single and banded.
1. The person I would be the closest with doesn't have to ride this emotional roller coaster with me. "fat/skinny/fat/skinny/fat/skinny" my mind changes hourly.
I'm either a skinny, sexy beast, or a fat, lazy, unattractive beast. :)

2. I'm not the same person I was a year ago. My priorities are different. I don't have to worry about how this affects my SO.
3. I can spend my extra money on gym shoes/workout clothes, new clothes... etc. Check out the adorable stuff at LBG blog HERE

1. Have you ever tried to explain to a first date why you can't eat this:
Even if it is his Mom's famous recipe and he spent all day cooking it... alright, I know what I do. I eat it, then I PB. Nothing says "lets cuddle on the couch" like "retching in the bathroom." (Now I share my lap-band with most people, but seriously, there is such things as too much information for the first few dates."

2. I feel like single people are more likely to hang out with "random people" so there is always someone new around, wondering about your eating habits.

3. How/ when to share the lap-band story? OR/AND prior fat girl status.

I'm sure there are more... but I want to hear what you ladies have to say!

Frequently asked questions...

1. (I love hate this one) How will you stop losing weight when you get to your goal?
Really people? Really? This one frustrates me because it makes me think that people assume the band is doing all the work.  I'm going to live like a person. Stop obsessing over EVERY SINGLE calorie and what nutrients it contains when it goes in my mouth. I might even be a rebel and not write down everything I eat, every day. I'm still going to make healthy food choices. I'm still going to run and Zumba!

2. How much more do you want to lose? Don't get me wrong, I don't mind sharing. You can know my weight now, my weight a week ago, my weight when I started. The thing I hate is when someone thinks they get to say "that is too much." Until you've seen me naked, you don't get to say. I have people on skinny watch, I'll trust them if they say i'm too skinny. I'm still in obese category for heck sake. I think my body will tell me when I get there. In my mind right now, I want to maintain between 135-145. I don't think this is unrealistic.

3. How does the band work? Well here is the skinny (I'm funny, right?) It is a band around the top portion of my stomach, creating a small pouch, it is adjustable via a port located just under the skin in my abdomen area, then a PA or someone with an acronym for a job title can add or remove fluid to adjust the tightness of the band. It (in the best case scenario) will never be removed. I seriously hope to still have it when I'm 80, with not complications. (Hey, it is my fantasy, don't question.)

4. How are you losing the weight? Well, I exercise 5 times a week (ok, ok at least 4), I count calories and protein and I have a little tool called the lap band, helps with portion control, and thats about it. Unless you eat a slider food (slider food is something even a banded person can eat copious amounts of. Examples: ice-cream, cold cereal, pretty much any kind of candy. these vary for every person, every band)

5.  Why can you eat different amounts/ types of food than my other banded friend/cousin/sister/neighbor? Well, because everyone's band is different. I can eat just about anything except doughy bread. I don't know if we each keep our bands at different fill levels and that makes a difference, or if each band is just fickle? I'm telling you, I don't have any proof, but when the weather changes my band basically zips shut!

6. Would you do it again? A million times over... a billion times over. I'm living! I'm not the "fat girl" everywhere I go. Not because others made me feel that way, because I did it to myself.  Don't tell Dr. K- but I'd pay double too! For my health this is the best thing I have ever done for myself.

10 things Thursday

1. TOM is visiting me. Pretty much camped out with all of the food stuff that goes along with it. I've been doing good during the day, a little off "course" at night. Not terrible foods (except the peanut butter ice-cream) just more of them. I have been starving.

2. I've had tons of meetings this week- so I'm squeezing in exercise when I can get it.

3. I think I'll register for the Bryce Canyon 1/2 marathon. (They DQ you after 3 hours because they have to close down the road for runners. That'll be embarassing for me.)

4. I baked a banana bread for a freinds birthday last week. There was an eggshell in it... how awesome of me? I've laughed quite a bit about this.

5. There are 2 mini Hereford Cows and a mini Hereford bull in my life; it is changed forever.

6. I'm so, so, so, close to 170's. I can taste it... or maybe what i'm tasting is the problem.

7. Work has finally evened out a bit; it is fantastic.

8. My dogs (the girls) have been neglected, i'm going to make sure they get extra attention tonight.

9. My dad watched the "girls" last night while I had meetings, and when I came home he'd been feeding them bacon. They never get human food... unless they are with Grandpa.

10. I'm excited to sleep in tomorrow, then spend the day with the cows and my Dad. Aren't I exciting?

Wanna be a Dragon Warrior?!

Where have I been? I haven’t posted a blog since my last weigh in- we all know those are boring.  For once I haven’t been MIA because I’m being a slacker on the weight loss. In fact, just the opposite; I have actually lost weight the last two weekends. Now, if you have read my previous posts you will know this is a MIRICALE for me. On the weekends the food Demons chase me down, tie me to the kitchen table, and make me eat all sorts of TERRIBLY delicious things.
Remember how a week or so ago (maybe longer) I called myself a Dragon Warrior? There is something about it that makes me feel like I can accomplish anything, and I actually chant it in my head when something I’m doing (usually exercise) gets really hard. Turns out, other people like it too! I think it should be a club or something: “Dragon Warriors; kicking butt and taking names” (literally getting rid of that butt jiggle); It is all about doing better than YOU did before, not as good as someone else, just your personal best. Here are two of the comments I received just this week:

“Just ran 5 miles in the wind I so wanted to stop after 1 mile or before that actually. I kept making excuses to turn around and go home because running in the wind SUCKS! But I kept going because I remembered your blog from last week when you ran in the wind and I so wanted to be the Dragon Warrior too! Thanks for the awesome motivation, I really needed it today…”
“Dragon Warrior!! You!!  My friend, are amazing!:)”
So, what do you say? Wanna be a Dragon Warrior with me? I’d love to hear your Dragon Warrior stories.
